Stupid question about bump starting or remote starter
I'm trying to turn over the LS-1 and lube up the engine. I connected the positive cable to the battery and the negative to the block (engine ground cable). Using one of those Autozone remote starters connected to the starter hot lug and soleniod nut, the starter only engages the soleniod. It seems like it is not even trying to turn over the engine.
Other points:
The wiring harness is not connected to the starter. No ignition switch wire.
The motor turns over easy by hand.
The battery is 5 yrs old.
The remote start is a peice of crap, but it grounds out at closure.
What's your take? Does the starter have to be connected to the ignition to start?
