TH400 shift information, rpms-mph
Can anyone tell me the RPM"S and MPH that a turbo hydromatic 400 trans should shift at when in "drive" 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with a 3.55 rear ratio........ Thanks :steering:

I thought this would be my first opportunity to give something back to this forum but when I checked the service manual for my th400 I didn't find much answers to your questions. But anyway, here's what I found:
Upshifts:
Gear 1-2 Min 15 mph Max 44-48 mph
Gear 2-3 Min 30 mph Max 77-83 mph
Detent downshifts:
Gear 3-2 Min 68-73 mph
Gear 2-1 Min 28-32 mph
Well, that was all I could contribute with, not very exact :nonod:

Jay they need your gearing as this will have a difference in the mph of the shifts. It has 3.55 gears. When we are done it should be shifting at 5400 to 5600. :steering:

Gordon, Thanks, i made the correction on the post. My vette has never seen 5400 to 5600 rpm's .... :lolg: neither have I for that matter :eek:
The MSD wire came the other day, 8.5mm what a differance in quality vs. what was in stalled and burned!
