I'm sure this question gets asked frequently. I was putting a new front bumper on my 75 and manually pushed up one of the lights. It is now stuck in the up position. I imagine there is a release somewhere, but I have not been able to locate it. Any suggestions?
Have you started the car since this happened? Since the lights require vacuum to close, if you have messed with any of the hoses, you may have introduced a leak. In case your unaware, there is also a release valve under the steering column- I catch that with a body part sometimes while exiting the car and my lights pop up.
The linkage on the headlights is like a knee that gets pushed back until it
goes past 180 degrees and pushes into the 'locked' position.
Reach up under (or remove the grills or headlight bezel). Pushing or pulling
on the cover linkage will start the cover closing. Once started, it should push
right down.
I'll post a picture that might help .... in this thread...
I got so frustrated with my headlights that I bought all the stuff to convert them to electric. I'm hopefully going to do the conversion next week.
Sometimes mine will not want to go down and while the car is running i'll pull up on them ever so slightly and they'l work fine.
I need to lube em again
