Re: Composite rear spring for 76 Vette (greentanker)
I had a new composite spring put in my 76 this past summer and the car does ride a lot better. The ride isn't so rough. The place I had it put in at said he wouldn't put anything but composite springs in when replacing them. He said it makes the backend less rigid, I have to agree the back end feels more solid then before and not so rough. Also I had a lot of other parts replaced so that might also add to the rear end feeling like this. I'm happy with my composite spring.

On the other hand, I don't like my car bouncing like a sedan. I'm going to swap out the fiberglass spring that's in there now and install a 7-leaf spring.
VBP has some KYB GR2 shocks that are specially valved to stop the "bouncey" problem. Part number is VBP218. Enter product ID# for more info at http://www.vbandp.com
Re: Composite rear spring for 76 Vette (greentanker)
I don't have a comparison because I never drove mine with a steel spring, but it drives really good with the 330# mono spring and Delco reactec shocks all the way around. You must get shocks made for the spring to get satisfactory results. I probably would have bought the KYB shocks if I could have afforded them, but no complaints on the Delco's. :auto:
Re: Composite rear spring for 76 Vette (greentanker)
I put them on my wife's (original owner) 1976 Corvette and she complained of over steer. I did not believe her till she almost totaled the car. I then researched it and found the spring rates don't match the OEM front springs. Ekler's was very happy to provide me with a refund. I then replaced with the stock 9 leaf. Don't do it unless you want to change your front springs to match.
