Re: Would a engine wiring harness from a 66 work? (wackedvette)
Would a engine wiring harness from a 66 work? On my 68??
.......
Those harnesses are approaching forty years old. I would get a new harness from Lectric Limited and save yourself a lot of pain and suffering.
The insulation on my 1980's wiring harness was beginning to crack. The LL harness was an exact replacement. The harness from the 66 will have it's own problems with deterioration in addition to the physical fit differences between the C2 and C3.

:iagree: I think I would opt for a new harness. Chances are that ebay one is some junk his grandfather threw in the corner years ago.

Buy a new harness. I wouldn't even consider messing with an old harness. I've bought a few old hanesses in my time, but I have just used them for parts, connectors, clips, etc. Chuck

:iagree: :iagree: Don't risk burning up the car to save a few bucks. Buy a new one and you should be good for another 30 years. Try Last Detail as a good source for Lectric Limited.

:iagree: :yesnod: I tried repairing a chopped up Bubba'd old harness...not worth the time or effort. Spent a good 24hrs total trying to make it right. Even had electrical engineers check my work. According to every diagram I had, it was perfect. From the fuse box all the way to the right marker light. Power, continuity, perfect soldered splices etc...Still didn't work right. Spent the $155 from TDL and TA-DAAAAA!! LIGHTS!!!!! Buy new, it's soooooooo much easier and safer.
