I have used esnipe and have also used ezsniper. Both of them worked as advertised and won items for me in the last seconds.

It works on E-Bay, at the last seconds of an auction it will automatically place your bid for you. Don't know to much about it.

I have to admit I really don't understand the concept of "sniping" I just put in my maximum bid. If some one jumps in at the last minute and beats me, who cares, they just paid more then I would for the same part or whatever. Another one will come along. I suppose there is the rare occasion where there are just a couple of bidders hoping to get a deal and holding out till the end, but I haven't seen it yet.

What bigbadorange says does make sense but you will almost always pay more than you would have had you "sniped" the item. When you put in your max bid early, you will notice that most times there is someone who will bid many times in a row till they just outbid you. If you snipe them they put in there first low bid and think they are going to win, by the time your bid gets in, they have no time to rebid. I almost never win an item for the price I want without sniping.

Don't be a p*ssy, do your own sniping. It is true that bidding earlier may encourage others to big higher, it just depends how bad you want it, and how cheap you are!

:iagree: Sniping is necessary because of dumbazzes. I've watched it happen many times. Some bozo makes a bid, someone else outbids him. He makes a bid .50 higher than that guy. Someone outbids him again, etc, etc. Or, just as common, you'll see some dimbulb who's made ten bids in a row, each one just a tiny bit higher until he finally has the high bid.

If you snipe, you avoid those shiz for brains kicking the price up way past where you would otherwise get it, because he ain't got time to put in another stupid bid.

case in point... nothing too adrenaline pumpingly suspenseful, (40 seconds before close) but the other guys last bid was at 10 seconds :D

Good deal eh?

Edit: looked up the prices in Eckler's $370 seperately!!

i dont see the point to it...i bid as high as i feel is a good price..that's it....if someone is going to bid higher than me it doesnt matter when i bid...

if the price on something is 10.00$ but the high bidder has actually bid 15.00 and you come in at the last second at 13.00 , it doesnt really help you does it?

:iagree:

For a few pennies, you can enter your max bid and win in the last couple of seconds without even being at your computer..If you've ever lost anything in the last second by a dollar or fifty cents without esnipe, you know why you should get it..

Bad, that's not the situation that makes sniping necessary. I learned early on that a LOT of ebay bidders will come into an auction and make a bid, and when they get outbid, they'll come back and make another bid. What sniping does it keep him from making that additional bid and making you pay more for your part. That doesn't guarantee you'll win the auction--I've lost many that I've tried to snipe. When I snipe I put in my maximum amount I'm willing to pay, and if it wins, cool beans. What often happens is it not only wins, but I get it way under my maximum bid, in part because someone else can't go "whoops, I've been outbid, better bid again higher."

I never bid without using esnipe.

Ebay draws out morons. Plain & simple. People bid, they get outbid, they become competitive and emotional and start bidding higher than they would have.

Typically, people don't put in their real max bid. Why should they? the mentality is "If I can get this $100 item for only $20, then I'll put in a $20 max bid.

Sniping lets you hold your cards until the very end. You don't show interest, you don't get some moron bidding up the price. You set your max bid, come in with a few seconds left in the auction and bid. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But more often than not, you're bidding against some guy who's incrementally upping his bid, so you cut him off at the very end and he can't bid any higher.

Is there an additional cost involved? and what happens if it becomes so widespread that more and more people use it?
