Default Carb spacers

do these spacers improve performance.
If so would ya say that the thicker spacer the better ?

a little. kind of like making a tunnel ram a block at a time. a phenolic spacer will help a bunch, it blocks the heat from getting to the carb. Brian

Actually the carb spacer helps the intake charge slow down to make the 90degree turn into the intake runners, some motors/manifolds like them, others don't. Use a RPM air gap 2 plane intake instead! unless you are open circuit racing, the 2 plane will perform much better than a single plane manifold (what do I know, my car has the factory aluminum hi-rise and only runs low 12's.)

As with many things you have to try it to know, have seen many dyno tests where the eng may run better with a single plane, or better with a dual plane, or run better with a single plane and 1/2" spacer, or run better with a single plane and 1" spacer, etc. You just have to try it to really find out since most every eng combo is a slightly diff.

Depends on the setup whether & which spacer might help. Some insulator is rec.

I agree with you Solid LT1. A spacer works better with a small carb to give the mixture more time to make the bend in the intake. The larger the carb the slower the velocity so the effect of the spacer is less.
