How do you go about removing a front fender without totally screwing it up ? I have seen pix of folks who have removed then at the bonding seams and they look as though nothing had ever been there. Any help would be appreciated. My car is a 75 ..... Thanks MAXX
It's pretty easy, you find the bonding strip on the backside, measure how far it's donw from the top, mark that on the outside, take a disc sander and sand a v-groove over the scribed line right down to the bonding strip, then take a chisle and chisel the panel off. You also need to loosen the section at the firewall, you first remove the rocker panels, then remove the screw(s) that are on the bottom of the fender section. Then you go and carefully chisel the bonding seam starting at the bottom, work carelfully and use wedges but don't put to much force on the fiberglass or it'll crack
Removal of the rear fender is basically the same, there's a screw on the bottom there too
I use both chisles and putty knives, I like putty knives better because thy're nice and thin but sometimes you'll need a chisel to get a starting point
