Any of you vette owners also have a street rod I am finishing up my 78 [maybe another 6 mos!!] and just purchased a frame and steel body for a 29 model A any help on this would be appreciated.
Yeah, I run a 1940 Ford tudor. Three quarter merc flathead with Chevy s-10 5 spd and ford 9 inch. Disc brakes, straight axle. Stock body, resto rod look. You need to join the NSRA. Their monthly magazine will get you started on finding parts suppliers, etc. Good luck with the rod. It's a great past time. Dan :steering:
Id get some street rodder type mags and catalogs and immerse yourself into the up-to-date parts available for these babies-especially for the suspension systems.
33-34 Fords (fendered and fenderless) were my first true love of automobiles, although I did fancy 55-57 Chevs before them.
Hope to someday but the Vette sucks up all the cash that doesn't go to the wife, kids, house, bills, dogs, taxes, etc, etc. :cry Would love to have something in the 30's or 40's they are really
My dad builds Street rods in his spare time. He's curently finishing up a '37 Buick Special 4 door (suicide doors) that is pending sale upon completion. He blasted/painted the frame, Mustang II front susp., '98 Camaro SS rear end, 4 wheel disk, warmed over ZZ4, backed by a built Th400. This car is already sold, and I believe my dad plan to build a '40 Ford coupe afterwards.
This was our previous Street Rod, it made the 1998 Snap-On Calander. It's a '38 Chevy w/ a 3in chopped in the front, 4 in the back, built 468ci(565hp), Th400, and 9in rear.
I am currently doing a frame up on a 48 Ford pick up.Progress is very slow.I have had street rods since the mid 70's.NSRA is a must join for street rodders and also attend the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville,Ky or a regional national.
