I bought new seat foam and leatherlike covers for the 72. Frames are media blasted and painted, but for the life of me, I can't figure out the damn wire clips that go through the foam. I have instructions from three different sources but none of them tell me what size clips go where. The Install kit I have came with all the correct # of long wires, hog rings and S clips, but came with only
10pcs- 1 1/4"
4pcs-2"
4pcs-2 1/2"
4pcs-3 1/2" clips that go through the foam.
Where on the bottoms or backs...horizontal or vertical do these go???
Also doesn't seem like enough clips to do both seats....ARGGGG.. :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss
Are the little Q shaped ones for the seat back????
Eddie
Eddie I am not sure I can be of much help but when I did my 76 seats after the first one (which took days) I got the hang of it and did the second seat in one day. The wire clips that go through the seat foam is to keep the leather tight against the foam. I noticed that the shorter clips were used on the top of the seat back and as the foam got thicker the clips got longer..
With the seat bottom I noticed that the shorter clips were used in the seat center where my butt would be.
On the second seat I used 2 by 4's and clamps to compress the seat frame & foam & leather (to a plywood table) so that I could work the wire clips and hook them over the metal bars. Like I said it was a much better way to get it done.
The thichness of the seat foam should tell you which clips to use.
