This may have been covered before, I installed a Secret Audio system in my 78. It has 140 watts,am using original rear speakes and it sounds ok but would like to install new 6x9's.What should I buy?
Thanks
If you go to buy aftermarket 6x9s, the magnet will probably be too big to fit into your stock location. Many here have done the corner speaker box build up. Try a search and you might find it if the search function is working. If you do this, you need to try to seal the enclosure or you will lose bass.
There is also a small powererd sub that would mount on the back wall. Kenwood KSC-WA62RC WooX jobber that would work and not take up your T-Top room behind the seats.
Thats probably my direction. It not too big either, so I won't embarass myself
:jester
Basically, unless you are going to get the dual paper cone pioneers for $19.95 at Wal-Mart, you are going to have to buy / build enclosures. I am building mine tomorrow.
Do not be swayed by what BestBuy has to say about what will and won't fit in the stock speaker location. They were drunk when they said it would fit. Very drunk.... possibly stoned even.
high end pioneers have always been a good choice i have two 4 way pioneers in 6x9 boxes in my 69 and its got a nice bass and good volumn, thye are the only speakers im running. if you want heavy bass outta them dont buy pioneer tho
