Default Dye on plastic parts?

I read where people dye their dash pads. Can you use this dye on plastic parts? Like the seat backs? I painted my seat backs years ago and the paint is chipping off. Maybe I didn't degrease or clean them sufficiently.

I used the same 'dye' on plastic as the vinyl, I think it is really an enamel paint. It has held up pretty well except when I left my passenger seat up against the dash out in the sun, dye/paint from the dash pad stuck to the seat where it was touching. :(

Your right the (dye) is realy paint that will stick to plastic. A lot of small part places will paint a black part to the color you want when you order it!
Saves them from stocking all those colors.
