I just ordered from Summit the Edelbrock Performer cylinder heads, intake, square flange 600 cfm carb and 278 intake/288 exhaust hydraulic cam,
Does anyone have this combo and does it work OK?
I now am looking to find the corect rockers and push rods for this setup also?
The people at Edelbrock has sugested 9 to 1 pistons to keep things cool as Bangkok is HOT all the time and need the AC working.
Thanks for any help from the forum
Edelbrock's catalog calls for pushrods that are .100 inch longer than stock for their heads. Get a quality head bolt kit like the ARP bolts. I have full roller rockers on my Edelbrock heads and have to use tall valve covers. If you use roller tip rockers they MAY fit under the standard height valve covers.
You didn't say if your car was an automatic or manual or what the rear gearing was. That sounds like a lot of camshaft for a tall geared automatic, but if you have 3.55 gears and a 4 speed you should be fine.
9 to 1 compression with aluminum heads should keep you nice and cool while running any gasoline that you get.
Put anti-seize on ALL bolts going in to or through aluminum.
Thanks 1979toy
Thanks for the input.
The car has a 4 speed manual but originaly had a auto so the rear is stock auto( what ever that is???)
I was thinking of the roller tiped rockers. But what should i order for the .10 over stock pushrods, what is stock?
Thanks Ganey for your input.
The setup I ordered was recommended by the folks at Edelbrock, I had emailed them for advice and the parts were what they suggested for the hot weather and un regulated gas here in Thailand. I have had problems with gas for my Harley 10.5 to 1 fuel injected engine. When getting gas out side of Bangkok you don't know what you are getting. I did ask the teck people for the best setup possible and a little uneven idle was OK for me but they suggested the setup I have now ordered from Summit. If the cam does not work, it is no problem changing it later. The parts were shipped on the 4th so it is a little late now.
