From my knowledge the last Sting Ray was made was in 1977, but here it shows this guy selling a 79 Sting Ray, i would email him about it but i do not have an ebay acount. And does anyone know what the heck "The headers are hooder one piece" is suppose to mean? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6168
You are right, I believe the 76 model year was the last Stingray (one word)
67 was the last Sting Ray (two words) This guy is confused by calling a 79 a rare "Sting Ray" Are you not surprised that no one has bid on it?

Re: 1979 Sting Ray? (l979 Corvette)
Hooker one piece. Just a typo. Also, some people think all C3's are Stingray's. I personaly think none of the C3's were. C2's were the Sting Ray, and the C3 has the shark body style.
I know that the early C3's had "Stingray" on them, but that is just another screw up by GM in my opinion.

Re: 1979 Sting Ray? (BSeery)
That car is o.k. at 7500, but NO WAY at 9500 or more.
The engine compartment is a mess. The a/c system does not work, and he's not even running a damn air filter ??!!?? That engine is probably trashed.
The 4x4 raised look sucks and those flat black side pipes do not work with a red car. In fact, I don't think side pipes even look good on the 1978 and newer C3's. It mixing too much from different time periods. Like putting **** capeting and murals on a 1985 Astro van - just not right.

More Corvette snobbery...... If GM put STING RAY instead of STINGRAY on the cars, who are we to say they were wrong.... Geez. But I suppose that the car had to look like an actual Sting Ray to be called one. Doubt that was the intention otherwise they would have been as flat as pancakes.
Some Corvette history is helpful to ID a Stingray.
In 63, the new smaller body & chassis w/ I.R.S. was called a Sting Ray. When the body was redone in 68 at first called Sting Ray & then used Stingray emblems in 69. Emblems are for identification & some can not identify w/o the emblem. Seems some place far more importance on emblems than the factory ever did. The factory wanted to change the new car so that it could be identified as new at the time. Stingray is not an option or emblem, some are unmarked.
Chassis essentially same from 63-77, body essentially same 68-77 & interior essentially same from 68-77.
There can be no question that 68-77 are Stingrays.
Can be debated on 78-82. Many changes. Note that the 78- rear glass is reminiscent of the 63-67 coupe.
