Thought I would post a quick update on Project RamJet. I finished buffing out and mounting the hood yesterday. Still some minor adjustment required but I think its going to workout pretty good. :hurray: What do you think?
I still need to do somthing with the aircleaner.... it needs to extend about an inch and angle down an additional 45 deg to fully clear the front of the hood. I tried to locate a flexable 4 inch dia. intake hose locally with no success. I did find a url that sells one http://www.turbohoses.com/45%20Degree.htm but they want a pretty penney for it  Anybody have some guidance? I took a look at patsnitrovette's pics that he has posted on his web site. Really looks good  I couldn't tell for sure, but did you cut the core support Pat?
I also need to change out the 7 quart oil pan that is stock on the 502 RamJet. Even though it fits ok in the engine compartment, It rides way to low for my style of driving :steering: First time I drive over a speed bump I'm toast. :nopity I purchased the 4 quart (5 with filter) pan kit so it should be back like the 454. That is a six inch ruler in the pic.
Still have some time before Memorial Day so with any luck I will have it down in BG.

Re: "Project RamJet" update (SmokedTires)
Will be looking forward to more updates on the project. The hood looks great. Gonna be one nice ride with all the advantages that fuel injection offers. Maybe one of these days this will find its way under my hood.

Tell me about it...first two times I was able to pound out the dents, the third time the pan was too beat up to save it. I like the larger oil capacity, so I went with Moroso's road racing pan

I hear you, I am worried that the high volume oil pump might suck the 5 qt pan dry on the turns. I had that happen to me on the original engine with a high volume pump I had on it. Had to keep the oil slightly over full to prevent that. This pump dosen't appear to run as high of a pressure as the old one though. I have seen alot of 502's out there running the smaller pan so i am hoping it will be alright.
yes i did i cut it then welded it back up to keep it tight,,70ls-1 is where i got the idea from he did it to his for ls-1 so i tried it and it worked great, only gets air from the lower grilles now instead of under hood hot air.that really looks good nice hood too.
I bought my intake hose from trucking company. Looks good and cost hardly nothing.
Have heard that truck stops that carry stuff like that are a good place to piece together an intake system since they carry all sorts of sizes and bend angles for trucks with forced induction. With a round tb you prolly have an easier time then the oval tb for the initial section.
Here is a filter system you might try: http://www.ramairhood.com/ram_air_ho...a82_airbox.htm http://www.ramairhood.com/store/detail.aspx?ID=45
If you can run some typ of seal between your hood and this housing you could almost seal it to the hood so it draws air over the rad. Another thing to do once you are set on a intake system is to relocate the MAT sensor to the intake tubing so it gives the computer a quicker reading when the air goes up or down in temp, with it mounted to the intake the intake retains heat longer thus passing it to the sensor.
Thanks, Budman78 & Fevre,
I'm heading over to Peterbuilt right now to see what they have. I'll let you know what I can come up with. Fevre, that air filter system looks like it may have possibilities, what is it off of --- any more pics?
