Any Info on a 79'
Hi,
I am in the market for a 1979 t-top. Since I am a novice in the corvette feild, I was writting to get some information from you guys. When I find one I like, what are the main things to look for? I am looking for a car that is going to be reliable. I want to use it as a daily driver untill I get it close to showroom condition, then I'll stop driving it as a daily driver. I like the 79' the best, but have also been looking at anything between 77-81. Could you please let me know what some problems I might run into with a 79. What year would you reccomend? Any information about any or all years would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to spend 10-12k, just to give you an idea of what i'm looking for. Any ideas on what I should be able to get for that? Thanks for your help.

The main thing IMHO is to check for rust. Especially behind the front wheels (frame) and the birdcage/windshield posts, etc. I just bought a 79 last month - knew it was a fixer, but has almost no rust :) .
Common problems - worn out suspension (these cars do have a few years on them), leaky power steering (if equiped). If you are looking for a driver - hopefully it will have a strong engine, no oil leaks, good trany, and good condition steering/suspension front and back.
