I am converting my '70 BB to side exhaust and currently working on the rear filler panel. I purchased a rear filler panel from Corvette Central; it's the design that has the "ears" to fill the void on the side fenders where the exhaust bezels use to be. It is a hand-laid item with "Ecklers" imbedded into the glass.
The fit is not very good, the license plate bezel will not fit without major modification.
My question is are all these panels made the same? Or, does someone make a better fitting panel or better yet a press molded panel?
I realize that most or all panels will require some degree of fitting, but I don't see this thing working.
Thanks for your comments.
I bought mine from Ecklers and gave it to the body shop that is painting my car. He told me it took him about six hours to install it and it took much cutting.
BTW, a few months back there was someone here who said he installed his in about an hour. I told the body shop guy that he laughed out loud.
You should double check the part numbers ..I think they make 2 styles depending on the years. I just bought one off ebay for my 68 $62 delivered I,ll let you know how it fits when I get it .. :steering:
I got mine off of ebay for $53. It is used, but fits really good. I'm going to glass it in and have it painted. It took only about 45 min. to install. I did just put on new rear bumpers a few weeks ago, so they came off really easy.
