A buddy of mine has a 65 conv.4-speed car with a 502 in it and the block has a BowTie on it, what does that mean? Ive heard that it's a chevy performance mark, also some blocks have a 10 or 20 cast in the front for the amount of tin and nickle in the block casting...which is which
The "502" is a crate engine to replace any Big Block directly from GM. The bowtie is a 'performance' part which is all relative.
I'm not sure if you mean "valuable" or is it a "hot" engine with insane power or what ?
As for the Nickel content......the old blocks have a number on the back (by the firewall) just above the crank to one side like "642".......the higher the # the more nickel and the stronger the block. :chevy
