I believe that was the first year for fastbacks. It also has the dome light and half-spoiler, so definetely not a '75.

Interior is a 75. VIN is a 75. Obviously, the back half of the body has been replaced. Has flags on front fenders vice Stingray script so the have been replaced as well. The hood does look to a 75 though. Engine is missing all the smog stuff as well.

Obviously, this car would be a major project. :smash:

Edit: Missed the 80-82 rear bumper and 80-82 style front bumper for 75-79's on the first look. Weird car.

:iagree: That's what I was thinking....it has what appears to be a "'75" interior, except for the dome light, but the body seems like a '78 or later.

Got my curiosity up regarding this car's history.

My 68 has the fastback window. The previous owner changed it.

Saw a car once. Body and interior was an 82 CE. Engine/ engine compartment and VIN on windshield post was 75.

Why wouldn't you just buy a '78?

I am guessing the car has had a new rear clip installed. Probably at the same time the 80's rear bumper was installed.

It is not an uncommon thing to see these combinations.

There was a car on E-bay last year that I really like and at one time considered building one for myself. It was an '80 with '70 front and rear chrome bumper on it. It looked like a '70 with the big back window, I really liked it! Wackedvette is yours going to have the front chrome bumper? jim

The seller of the auction e-mailed me back and said, "It is a 75 that has been modified. Check the VIN, it's a 75."

People do this alot when the cars are reletively new. Just think in 1985 you could make your 75 look alot newer by changing out the body panels.
I did it myself to an 84 in 97. I had what looked exactly like a 95/96 going down the road at the rock bottom price of an 84.
