I am considering purchasing a Weiand Stealth manifold. Will this fit under the stock hood of the vert? Have 79? Currently running an Edelbrock 600 carb. What other carb will fit both the manifold and under the hood?
I to have asked this question on the forum. Apparently no one is running A STEALTH. On my "72" small block & hood I am going to run A stealth with A BG SPEED DEMOM 750 with A drop base airfilter. :D
That used to be an easy question to answer back in the day when Weiand was a stand-alone company and a Weiand Stealth manifold was a Weiand Stealth manifold. Nowadays it seems every manifold Holley makes with the Weiand name on it is called a "Stealth."
I have an Edelbrock Performer on my 71 with the low hood. I'm using a Q-Jet & orig air cleaner. The front top portion of the air cleaner slightly rubs the hood.
Here are a few height #'s: (front & rear measurements)
Edelbrock Performer 2102: 3.50" & 4.60"
Edelbrock Performer EPS 2701: 3.74" & 4.80"
Edelbrock Performer Air Gap 2601: 3.72" & 4.92"
Edelbrock Perf RPM & Air Gap 7101: 4.20" & 5.25"
Weiand Stelth: 4.18" & 4.50"
I'm not sure how much taller the hood on a '79 is, but looking at the numbers, I know the stealth will not fit under my hood without an air cleaner change.
The Stealth is a nice manifold. I ran taller single planes under my stock 79 hood. You just need a dropped base open element air cleaner. I use 3X14 K&N's
