Need Help 1969 Corvette Vacuum Problem
I am working on a 1969 coupe 350/300 no a/c or power brakes. Here is the problem. When the car is started the wiper door slowly opens all the way to the open position and the headlights also open without being turned on.
Where or what do you think is leaking in the system? If I block off the vacuum at the manifold the engine runs smooth, if I hook it back up the engine runs rough.

I'm getting ready to trouble shoot the same basic problem. What I'm doin' is using the diagram in the Midamerica catalog I got. It shows all the parts and labels them. I figure that's a good place to start :D
Re: Need Help 1969 Corvette Vacuum Problem (Corvette ED)
You have a SERIOUS leak somewhere in the system, possibly on the side that commands the headlights to 'shut'. You're just going to have to the leg work to track it down. There's IIRC correctly more than 40 feet of vacuum hose on a C3, just trace the lines inch by inch looking for a serious leak- should be obvious when you find it. :chevy
I've seen that diagram from ZIP Products. My 69 doesn't have the vacuum tank shown on the drivers side, yet my headlights (and until recently the wiper door) worked fine. Did all 68-72 cars have that tank or was it replaced with some other component from time to time?
