Re: T-top luggage rak (kks74)
The luggage and roof panel rack was a factory option only in 1977 (RPO V54). The luggage rack uses 8 bolts (as opposed to the usual 6) and has "pins" to hook up the T-Top holders. I've never seen the top holders offered by any of the usual sources (MAD, CC, ZIP ect.), but if you do a search (assuming the search function is working) there have been some previous trheads about these racks.
I have seen a lot of these lately, They are now being replicated. Basically, you are looking for a rack hat has "nubs" on the the center and outboard bars of the rack that will hold the mounting kit. I think the whole setup is about $300 and change. At least that's what I saw one going for at the Winter NCRS meet last month. The Eckler's part number is A2194 for the rack, and Part# 45913 for the t top carrier. Unfortunately, I opted for a stainless rack when I painted my '77 about 6 years ago, so my T-tops go in the storage compartment when they come off. (or they get left at home)
I've had them from Glenn for about two years. Nice product and a stand up guy. I've had the car up to at least 80 mph with them on the back of the car. The way they sit the wind goes over the top of them as it goes over the roof so they are affected by little, if any, lift.
