Default edelbrock torker 2 intake manifold

I UNDERSTAND THAT THE TORKER 2 IS THE ONLY MANIFOLD THAT WILL ALLOW ME TO USE THE STOCK HOOD ON MY 73 BIG BLOCK. IS ANYONE USING THE TORKER? IS IT BETTER THAN STOCK?

The LS6 "pancake" manifold is also an option.

I use the torker 2 on my 69,427 stock hood o.k.,but clearance is poor. With a 770 holly avenger not much room for a good air filter. Use a Moroso drop base with a 2 1/2 accel filter, high flow K.and N extreme lid will not fit. A 73 might have more room though..Don't know about the LS-6 pancake sounds interesting.Another thing,it's a single plane, higher rpm power(5500+).I'd like to know the # of the LS-6 manifold :steering:

The LS6 intake is designed for rect port heads. I ran a Torker II on my '71 BB for a while. It cleared the stock hood, but only after I bought a 2.75" K&N filter vs. a 3" high standard size. Also, if you are using a Holley, you will need to run one without the choke horn. My 750 holley was starved for air. As soon as I switched to a carb w/o choke horn (I use a BG carb), the problem was solved.
This intake made very good mid range power, but I always had an off idle stumble that was hard to clean up. Part of it could be the BG carb, as I was still learning how to tune it-still am!

I still have my Torker II if you want to try it.

You have more clearance w/ the med. rise hood. W/ the II, run as much insulator/spacer (about 1/2") as you can W/O restricting carb intake. Leave at least 3/4" over vent tube.

I use it and have no complaints. Edelbrock says the range on it is 2500-6500 rpm.

IS IT BETTER THAN STOCK?
I don't think you will find many people who would buy one as their first choice if hood clearance wasn't an issue. However, it is most likely much better than any factory low-rise OVAL port manifold and that is why Edelbrock made (and still is making) it.
