interior lights on..

Putting in new weatherstrip last night, when I shut the door the interior lights came ON and will not go off. They never worked with the door switch before but would turn on with the headlight switch. Now I can't get them to go off. Suggestions?

Sounds like one of the hot wires on the switch is shorted to ground. Pull off the kick panels and remove the switches to check them out.

Side Question:Why are there 2 contact switches on the door?

This guy has a ton of useful stuff including schematics on what you are trying to fix. It is for an '80 but I would imagine yours to similar. Best of luck.

The switch at fromt of the door is for the courtesy lights. The one at the rear is for the door ajar light and the optional UA6 anti-theft system.

I don't know if you saw the schematics section or not but if you didn't, check it out. It is smokin' for helping you locate wire, colors etc. Good luck!
