My 78 has a Holley 4150 carb. I am trying to install a HOLLEY THROTTLE RETURN SPRING. It didn't come with directions or a diagram. I would apreciate it if anyone that has installed one of these could send me a diagram or tell me how to instal it.
Don't know about a specific Holley spring, but most of the vettes I've seen (Including mine) have a bracket on the thermostat housing to mount the spring of your choice. Factory Holley setup used a spring underneath the LH side of the carb going back to the cable housing. Tended to wear out the throttle shaft bushing, though. That's why most are converted.
My vette came with a Holley DP and a custom return spring bracket but I couldn't find a decent spring to return the throttle to idle positon when the eng was up to temp. I then decided to the try a double spring using the return spring bracket wrencher mentions, well actually it is a little nub coming off the t-stat housing with a hole in it. Now there is enough tension to return to idle postion. I just used the large hole in the throttle lever to hold the spring ends at the carb.
That doesn't look like the one I have. Do you have a picture with the air breather off. I believe I know where the bracket goes but I don't know where the springs go.
