Default Temp Gauge Sensors

I had a sensor in the head for the gauge that consistantly read 20 degrees high. Rebuilt the engine and then it read 30-40 degrees high. Who knows why. I also have a mechanical gauge taped into the rt head so I know I am not really running that high. Also, used a digital temp gun to check.

I replace the sensor with a Wells sensor and now it reads 20-30 degrees low.

Who knows of a sensor for C3's other than NOS that is accurate?

I recently went thru this with water temp and oil temp on my 383 tpi. The only way I was able to get close to accurate was to buy the recommended sending units from lectric and corvette clocks by Roger and test them with a pan of hot water, an ohmeter and the dash gauge. After trying a half dozen senders, I got to within 10 degrees of matching gauge reading vs actual hot water temp in the pan.
