I am looking at replacing my gas tank cap. Its a pain to open and close, and many times I've ended up with a cut to the bone on my finger because when it does finally pop lose I end up running my finger across the underside of the lid. That and it is starting to rust a little.
I could easily buy a replacement cap, but how do I know if the cap is the problem, or if the filler neck seal is the problem. Or is this just the way C3 Vette gas tanks are and I need to get a pair of leather gloves to remove the cap so I dont cut myself?
If the Filler neck is the problem, how hard is that to replace?
:iagree: Mine is tight, but not a problem. If the neck is the problem you will probably break off all the bolts that hold it on. I would start with the cap. They are still available from GM.
They are only $25 through zip. so I'll try that out. I also need to get a 74 gas tank decal since mine is not original. I can't find a cap for a 74 though.
