I have a new 383 with Canfield heads and wanted to know if the stock sensor work with my heads. My original is broken and I was thinking of ordering a new if it will work. Here's a link: http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...PW1S0C70VDDRQ4
Thanks in advance
Re: question about coolant temp sensor...... (Ryan77)
What size is the port on the Canfield's? If they are 1/2" npt then this should fit just fine. If they have 3/8" npt then this stock sized sensor won't fit. If this is the case and you want to use a stock sized sensor and you don't have the heads on the engine, then take them to a machine shop and get them to drill out and re-tap the temp sensor ports to 1/2" npt.
Otherwise, you'll have to use the smaller sized sensor, here's a link to a thread from December, when I was fooling with getting the smaller 3/8" sensor to read correctly in my car. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...093#1545827093
I used the WT510 Borg Warner sensor and an auxillary "tuning" resistor to get it to work with the gauge.

On my 77, after I switched to the Vortec heads, I noticed the standard temp sensor would not fit. But, on the intake, at the water outlet, there was a perfect spot for it. So I screwed it in, and it's worked ever since.
