Default One step foward, two steps back......bellhousing cracks

I cleaned & glass beaded the bellhousing this weekend to get ready for paint. After it was good & clean I found two small stress cracks that will need to be welded. Anyone ever had this done on a factory aluminum bellhousing.

On this picture you can see the crack at the bottom, approx 2" long extends through the case.

On this on the crack is at the top on the mounting surface:

Thanks - click on the pics to enlarge

dayum...not a good thing..

Don't have a definitive answer, but I know that when our guys are welding a stress crack, they always drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop its progress, then weld...

You can TIG alum. and it will be fine. About half of the stock bellhousings we see here are cracked and used ones are getting harder to find.

I had one welded for an old camaro that I owned. Any good weld shop should be able to fix you up.
