What does your oil temp gauge read??
I would like to know what your oil temp gauge reads when driving on the highway at speeds around 60 - 70 mph for longer periods of time?

Remember, I live in the southwest part of Arizona. (KILLER SUMMER HEAT)
I usually run 220 to 250 easily in the summer, and if I push it, I see above that. But I try to keep it changed and not push it too much for very long at the extremes... :mad

Mine read between 240-260 degrees........then I wrapped the header with heat shield and put heat shield around oil filter....and temps dropped about 20 degrees....It appears the header was too close to the oil filter and cooking the oil before returning to the engine. :steering:

A good rule of thumb on oil TEMP. is 20 deg. above the water temp.

Re: What does your oil temp gauge read?? (Pauld)
Mine reads 0 as there is still 4 feet of show here. I ahve been told that is should run 20 degrees hotter than your water temp. The reason I have a oil temp gauge is to keep a eye on my crank bearings. IF your oil temp jumps by 30-40 degrees your bearings are going. Good Luck
