i am about to order a pair of sidepipes from summit.
Take these for an example... http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=WLK%2D89301
How do they measure the length?
it says 71". is that the WHOLE "Pipe" and the tubing that goes under the car, or is it just the "muffler"?
I have sent a mail to summit, without any response
I bought a set of these a few years back for a 1978 camaro that i had. As I remember it was the whole length of them that was measured from the exhaust tip to right near were it bends and goes under the car. The sound was great and the chrome was very good. You couldn't get burned on them with the heat shield either. I wish i had kept them.
Yes, I remember using those pipes to hook it up to the headers. I don't remember if i bought it seperate though. I did have to buy the collectors to bolt to the headers.
This is very interesting! I was thinking about bying the Hooker sidepipes but they are almost twice the price of these and restrict your choice of cylinder heads. Can the Dynomax headers fit with angle plugs? and if not can you hook up any header system with these sidepipes?
i dont really know...
i will have to buy these: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...rt=HED%2D21102
because my headers are 3", and the sidepipes 2 1/2", i will proably order it in the end of this week, will post pictures later
Parts Grand Total: $1,013.93
Excluding any shipping and/or taxes.
You dont really want the slip in mufflers, they rob a lot of power and beautiful music. :D So you can subtract 140 from the 1013 to get $873... that is much more reasonable!
You can always add JCL Baffles later if you think the open pipes are too loud.
I purchased my sidepipes from summit. there the ones that dont include the header, they fit perfect on my 75 vert.(wish I knew how to enclude pics.? ) .... I first saw them on the Hooker web site. and after asking them where they were available there support techs gave me a few sites to look at, I e-mailed summit and they were very helpful and after calling on the phone I decided to go with them, these companys are acessable by e-mail and phone. I did it, and my pipes look great on my car..........I didnt run into the mesurments question?, Ive heard about this when you go through JC Whitney though........ also Hooker side pipes (as advertised)say there made for vettes.... . I agree. the length is perfect. .... the set I got need to be connected to the Exhaust manifolds or if ya get normal headers ya also have to have a muffler shop connect them.....
