You are encountering first time vette owners who haven't a clue about tradition and the wave. I would think if they knew about the wave, yours would be returned.
Many C5 are either leased or purchased with the intention of short-term ownership. In other words, the people buying them are interested in them as a status symbol of sorts -- they're not into the Corvette culture. (We're talking about SOME C5 owners here, not all...)
Take a closer look at these folks as they pass. Then you'll know why they don't wave: one hand is holding a cell phone and the other hand is holding a coffee mug and a cigarette!
:hat
C5 owners are more concerned about making their payment than waving. Also, as stated above, many C5s are leased. This is why you see so many being driven during winter in the snow belt states.

If I had a C5, I'd drive it in the winter.. and it wouldnt be leased
Oddly, I seem to get more waves from C5 owners than C4 owners, but the other day I was getting out of my '79 in an empty parking lot while a guy in a C5 parked almost opposite of me was pulling out, and as he passed he just completely snubbed me. :bs
So I yelled "Hey A**H***!" and when he turned around I moon'd him. :jester Well, at least I considered it. :D
Many (not all) C5 owners are not "enthusiasts" Once the lease is up on their C5, they'll just trade it in for whatever the "zoomy" looking car du jour is. Often, they are probably ignorant of the wave.
My C5 is paid for and I wave at every Corvette I encounter. I started with a 77 then a 94 and now a 2000. Just puchased a fixerupper 79. I believe in the tradition. I'll be waiving!!!

I have one (in addition to the 76) and it is, and it's not!
As far as I'm concerned, the last real Corvette was built in 1982.
amen :D
 I'm not going to touch that one, I still need to get my own flame suit :D
I agree with C5 owners being to new Corvettes & not knowing the tradition. Many people buying C5's are baby boomers that have paid off their morgages, their kids are grown up, and they're making the most money ever at this stage of their lives. I see this in our local club. I don't see these owners being snobs at all, they've always wanted a Corvette and are finally able to get one.
Just keep waving, I remember when I 1st started driving mine & a hot blonde in a C4 waved. I waved back thinking,"wow that doesn't happen often"
