Going to Dyno my newly built 461 tomorrow and thought i`d start a little guessing game on the output on the engine.
The engine i built with this:
.030 bored 454 block
Ported 781 Ovals with 2.19/1.88 valves.
11:1 TRW slugs.
Fully balanced.
Comp Mech roller 288 AR (11-692-8).
Edelbrock RPM intake.
Holley 950 HP Carb.
Will probably spinn it to 6200.
So,what will the numbers be?

I'm curious to see what it produces. My mechanic has two big blocks. One is going in his '80, the other is a 461 he had in a truck. He wants to sell it to me for my '79. He said it makes like 600+ hp, so 650hp is my guess.
Very interested in your results too. 427Hotrod has raved about that cam. I am thinking of using it for a 460 build-up. I would guess 540 hp, 575 ftlbs torque. The heads might be the limiting factor-depending on your port work, of course.
Those numbers peaked real low. I bet that's gonna be a blast to drive on the street. One question: Since it peaked so low, do you think you could have the same performance from a hydraulic roller? Or even a hyd flat tappet?

I thought the same thing, peaking at under 6000 rpm's there is not much chance of lifter float if using a hyd roller.
Your oval heads will give it great torque but kill hp above 5500 rpm.switching to rectangle heads will bump up the power band and higher hp . even torque will be increased with that rpm manifold.nonetheless it should be a blast to spin tires off the car.
BB wowbagger, Your muncie should be fine as long as It's In good shape. I ran my muncie behind a 450 rwhp BB and 500+rwhp on nitrous. Unless your pulling the tires when you launch at the track, your muncie should hold up. Your clutch Is going to hate you. :)
