I replaced the engine wiring harness in my 1971 350 coupe yesterday. Everything went smooth except for extra plugs that go to the tcs solenoid which is missing on my car. What the heck does the thing do? Why does my car function fine without it? Is it something that I shoud put back on the car?
It disengages the vacuum advance unless the engine coolant temp is below 93 degrees F or above 232 degrees F or the transmission is in high gear. It is an emmisions control device and your car would run better without it. The only reasons that you would put it back on would be for NCRS originality issues or if you are an environmentalist.
They only used that set-up on 70-74's , that shows you how effective it was! You can usually get a few bucks for the wire exstension, and the two prong coolant sensor in the right hand head though!
