A friend of mine has been telling me about a 67' he spotted years ago sitting in a yard north of Boston. Today we decided to take a ride and check it out. The owner (guy in his late 60's) was home and said he had no plans to sell it. He was thinking of sending out to be restored. It's a second owner car 327/350 coupe, factory air and 60k. He has never done any work to it so I think it's safe to say it's 100% original! Car was last registered in '72. Needs a 100% restoration. I left him my number dreaming that he decides to get rid of it. What I wouldn't do for it! I guarentee you that thing will still be sitting there rotting in 5 years! :banghead:
I don't understand people that will let one rot away. They always say I am going to restore it, but never do.
I found this one in a barn two years ago. This man bought this car new. He was the only owner for 39 years. Widow woman wanted $15,000. It was a mess. I offered $10,000. He had three grown male children. She was the step mother and would not let them have it.
A guy down the street from me has a laguna blue 69 with a white hardtop just sitting out on it open, rags on the dash show it's leaking around the windshield. he won't cover it or garage it, just lets it rot there in the mud? I don't understand people, I don't like them either.

Re: 67 rotting in yard (killain)
It's all about a dream, they dream of someday riding around in that car restored and as long as they own it the dream lives on. If they ever sold it the dream would die right then and there along with a little part of their hope for the future.
I have asked about so many cars and heard the same story that "I am going to restore that when I retire." or "I am saving up the money to buy the parts and then start on it." Most of these people are never going to do the first thing to them and continue to let them sit and rot and we know it.
Their dreams are no different than ours when we go to look at these rotting cars. We envision the mods and color or wheels and tires we are going to put on it if we get it and I can really see the car sitting there when finished in my dreams.
Who ever walks away the owner from these encounters owns the dream. I bet you have one too.............Jim
So true!... Im sure the frame was a mess.... From what I could see the cage looked good...pillars ..ect,ect... inside was nice and dry....didn't want to tear into it as he doesnt want to sell....
Prosouth,
Wow you really jolted me with those words! I am an old fart and got one before it faded away. And yes I had a dream. I don't have time left in life to do a frame-off or the like and just wanted one to drive. But those barn-yard Corvettes are a real shame!

Re: 67 rotting in yard (PROSOUTH)
older guy up the street from me has a 65 GTO sitting in his front yard, 3 flat tires been sitting there at least 6 years, approached him about it one day and he said he plans on restoring it... I just don't get it.
One of my best friends, who has lived here most of his life, still goes out just about every weekend and drives around looking for cars rotting away. Just about three months ago he found a '69 Camaro SS396 sitting in a field right off the street-- the following weekend he went back to find the house for the property and talk to the owner, and before he could even get out of his car at the road leading up to the house, the owner appeared and started screamed at him "I saw you drive by last week looking at my car, get the F**k off my -bleeping- property, I pushed the car back with my tractor so you'll never get it! Leave before I shoot you"
Crazy people out there!
One of my neighbors is a mailman, and he knows where a '61 Vette is, and a bunch of old muscle cars are. It's tragic!

I know what you mean without the shoting part dumb people the need to know when to let go to the car
The sad thing is that as long as they sit on it, the more they increase in value, if they don't rot away first. To be honest, just build one from the ground up, make it a clone and sell it for 100K at Barrett Jackson.
The best way to get one of these sorry people to give it up is to flash the cash (not the full amount) in their face, IMHO-
Even if they don't immediately go for it, they'll soon call you back and cash out.
Talk is cheap- and cash is king.
