Engine rebuild kit
An engine rebuild is not usually a "bolt on" mod.
You have to examine the cylinder walls for wear and scoring etc.
All pistons have a recommended clearance based on the material they are made from.
Material expansion rates differ from material to material... so clearances vary as well.
To get that clearance, the block is not bored straight to stock + (e.g.- stock + .040).
The machinist needs to have a piston in his hand to measure... and he bores the block to the ballpark spec, and then final hones the cylinders to the correct bore for the specific piston being used.
Buying a kit from source A, and having the block generically bored at source B without the proper honing is asking for trouble. So is installing a kit without measuring the current bore for wear and possible previous over-bores.
I assume you already know all this, but it should still be noted.
Just a heads up in case.
