Default Shiftworks lens adapter question

I'm installing the OD shifter conversion kit from Shiftworks. I put the new indicator lens on and reassembled the plate. I moved the little indicator slider, and I can't see it through the new lens. The slider is a somewhat faded, so I don't know if that is effecting it. Can everyone else see the orange slider just fine through their lens with the Shiftworks kit?

I contacted them way back when to let them know that their plate hides the pointer and how to fix it. Guess they never got around to it. Anyway, on my former '81 console, I had to trim a bit off the left side so the pointer would be exposed as you can see in the pic.

Yeah, that looks good. They sent two indicators. One was narrower like that. I supposed I should use that one. I was also thinking about sticking it on the black plate in the rear and scraping off the stock letters on the plastic.

One problem I'm having is removing the stock detent. That seems to be the only part GM did a good job on welding.
