On my 74, the wiring harness going to my stock fuel gauge has a pink and a brown wire. Which is from the sender and which is ground? I am hooking up my Nordskog gauge panel and the directions say to attach the wire from the "factory fuel level sender".

Don't have my wiring diagram here but I just R&R the tank sending unit on my '74 over the holidays. I remember a brown wire wth a round post type terminal at the sending unit which is grounded through the tank and straps . Also with that brown wire in same "harness" a black wire connecting to a flat push-on terminal. I also recall a pink wire on the diagram going to the sending unit. I remember this because the signal path didn't make sence but thought maybe something wrong with the diagram.
Its hard to follow all those thin lines but try a magnifier and maybe a highlighter to trace out electrical path.
I saw that brown wire on the tank but it looks to be a 18 gauge while the brown wire at the gauge is a lot thicker, maybe a 14. I'll call Nordskog today and see what they say.
In GM wiring the pink is always ignition switched, pre-fuel injection tan is the wire to the sending unit (tan is also used for the brake warning light wires). Just FYI, later FI cars the wire to the sending unit is purple and the wire to the fuel pump is gray. I burned up a sending unit when I put TPI in my truck. GM now gets about $250 for an 87 truck sending unit-oouch! I put 12v through the sending unit and it never worked quite right after that.
I knew someone here would know this obscure piece of info!! I did notice last nite that the e-brake connector had the same colors and assumed that it would be the same type setup as the fuel connector. Thanks dude!!
