Love em both - plan to put ~2K miles/year on sunny days
Car 1 - 1970 L46 350/350HP only 35K Miles - ALL #s match
Car 2 - 1971 LS5 454/365HP only 55K miles - Block is a replacement for the orig. 454 which was bored over and ruined by previous owner - repl. is a 71 LS5 built to spec...all other #s match
Which will hold its value better? Im not buying as an investment but I would like to know that if I had to sell in a year or 2, which gives the best chance of holding its value..
I went with the '70 because of the limited numbers in that year, the LOW miles (if documented) and the LT-1. The BB would beat it if the original block was there, but not by much. You still have the OEM block? Get it sleeved. Also, what about A/C and other options... Nice pair!

Re: Better Choice - PLEASE Vote!! (Wrencher)
The '70 is the better car for value. With the low miles and matching numbers you will always have a stable investment in that car.
However, if it was me, I would by the 1971 in a heartbeat. In the second heartbeat I would have that motor yanked and re-done to 450 HP.
If you want a gentle cruiser with decent handling get the '70. If you want a ***** to the wall fuel-prices-be-damned testosterone belching Corvette, then the '71 is a better starting point.
I see your dilemma..........any chance of buying them both???? :)
......the 70 will hold it's value more because of low production, low milage and originality........any options like power windows, brakes and air con will add to that value.....
.......not an easy decision......good luck

Bseery, with all due respect, have you ever driven or ridden in a 69 or 70 L-46 car? Gentle Cruiser is not what comes to mind. They are nearly on par with the LT-1 in terms of performance. Sure, the big block has gobs more torque, but the L-46 is a pretty great motor in its own right.
The 1970 L46 is the only decent corvette ever made. All other corvettes are pieces of junk that you would be ashamed to be seen in. BTW, that's what I drive. Seriously, I think that either of those cars would be an excellent investment. The '68 and '69 models are sooo expensive now, and I do think chrome bumpers are great investments.
They are 245/60/15 BFG AT's on 8 inch on front, 295/50/15 on 10 inch on back. I like the look, but I have air shocks for clearance, and don't like the feel of air shocks. Thinking of going to regular shocks with different monospring bolts.

Tough decision. In the long run as mentioned the L-46 being #'s matching would be worth more. Nice L-46's are starting to creep up there in price. That's what mine started out as...until Bubba got it.
