Picked up a set of old Western tubine mag wheels with nice corvette spinners.
Wheels are 15x8.5 and have 235/60/R15 tires on them.
Has anyone had this wheel size and tire size on their C3. Mineis a 71 that I would like to use these on?
John D. :
A majority of the later C3s, equipped with aluminum wheels (option #N90) which are 15" x 8", came with 255/60R15 tires.
I would check & compare the back-spacing...
:thumbs:
Lay wheel out-side surface down;
lay a straight-edge across the wheel;
measure depth to flange the 'seats' against hub...
If both back-spacings are identical, the extra .5" of the aftermarket wheels MUST be 'out-board', meaning no 'inside' clearence problems (fronts lock-to-lock: rears rubbing trailing arms) IF you will use the same size tire.
The only place left to concern yourself is the OUTER-edge of the tire, possibly if the car 'squats' under acceleration...
Thanks mine are very similiar to the ones in the picture.
My original rallys are 4.25 backspacing and the Westerns are 4".00 so the extra 1/2" is going outward. I will just mount one tire and check all outward clearances. Thanks for getting back to me. :hurray: :thumbs:
