I'm still having pulley problems!
I am in a real pickle. I ordered new crankshaft pulleys for my 1971 350/270, with no A/C. I needed both the pulley that bolts to the balancer and the add on pulley to connect with the power steering pump. I received a two groove pulley with an original part number of 3858533, and an add on pulley with the number 3751232. These two pulleys, according to the vender, were supposed to fit together, but they don’t match. I didn’t think that this was going to be a big deal. Just order the parts and bolt them on. I can’t believe that it is this hard to get pulleys that will work. I am at a work stand still until I get this resolved. Is there anyone out there that can help me work through this, or has the correct pulleys for my 1971 that will work, and can part with them?

What is the matching problem? Bolt holes? Diameter? Do you have an AIM? If you do then you can cross referance your new add-on pulley part number to the one in the AIM for a 71 350/270 to see if it is the correct part. I will look it up in my AIM if you don't have one.

I know what you're talking about, the add-on pulley should sit inside the larger pulley. They should line up without a problem. I hope you have it figured out...

According to the AIM there are two crank pulleys. One is the one I have #3858533. This one I believe is a deep groove pulley for the high performance engines. It is listed under the LT1 section of the AIM. The other pulley listed is #3850838, it is listed under the pulley/belt section. It is my belief that this is the pulley that I need to match up with the power steering add on pulley #3751232. I sure would like someone to agree with me if I’m right. Does anyone have a two groove pulley with the #3850838 on it?

I forgot, the matching problem is that the add on pulley does not go far enough into the crank pulley. The holes match, but it is though the crank pulley is two deep for the add on, about 1/2 inch short.

Good time for a set of March billet pulleys. Summit part number MCH-5070 fits your car.

They sure are good looken! But the budget doesn’t support a purchase like that at this time. I have just enough left for gas at $1.90 a gallon.
