Default wheel/suspension prob

while driving the other day on a fairly bumpy back road my car randomly started having terrrible bumps from the front left. It felt kinda like a flat tire. After seeing that it wasn't a flat, it feels like the wheel is loose but I don't know. Someone said it might be a tie rod. It's especially bad when going on a bridge because of the rise and sharp small fall in the road. Any ideas?

Jack the wheel up from under the ball joint on the lower conrol arm this will take the weight off the wheel. Grab the wheel at 9 and 3 and push and pull front to back if there is looseness it will be in the tie rod. Grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and push and pull from top to bottom if there is loosenes it will be in the ball joint.

Look closely at the frame. Vehicles as old as ours are experiencing metal fatigue resulting in failed welds and tears in the steel itself. I had both in my 71.

These are easily fixable by a decent welder.
