Upper door hinge pin slipped out...

Upper door hinge pin slipped out...
Yeah, so I've got to deal with that this afternoon. The upper hinge pin.
I'm thinking I can hold the door steady with a jack, loosen the hinge bolts on the door and hammer the pin back up into place until the teeth mesh on the bottom. (The hinge pin was installed upside down, and lasted about 6 months until it worked its way out.)
What do you guys think about this idea? You can't force it in with the door attached normally I don't believe... I think I really need a helper to get the door back in perfect alignment, but I could probably do it with my knees... hrm...
*sigh* Such stupid problems.
Anyone not doing anything in the SF South Bay Area this afternoon?

Get me a ticket, I'd gladly come out and help. My girlfriend helped me with mine, besause lifting it from the back of the door helps very much. I drilled mine for a scotter pin, as it was installed the same way.

I managed to get it out and back in on my own. Made a promise to myself not to drop any bolts. At the end of the job, when I was pulling the ratchet out after tightening the hinge bolts, pulled the socket off and plinked it down into oblivion. Thank god for magnetic pickups!
I can't seem to get the thing to raise up any more than just a scosh. That cotter pin is sounding like a really, really good idea...
