Hello all,
I am constructing a 1969 convertible. Its a total basket case, and pretty much everything is non original. I am not trying to restore, only building a non original daily driver, and i pretty much do not care what year my parts come from. So far, it has a 1969 body, 1970 rear clip, 1976 frame with rear '69 frame rails fabbed to it, and 1972 interior.
I was wondering of the aluminum differntial house that they started using in 1980 would accept the 68-79 cast iron rear cover, or are they completley differnt manufacturers?
I knew the aluminum was a dana 36, but i do not know what the cast iron head is.
Thanks for the welcome! This is my third c3. The first was a '74, good candition, all original nice driver. the second was a very very poor shape roadster, east coast car, with a lot of rot, so i let that one go.
This one is a southern car, out of North Carolina. It has a perfect birdcage, with green primer still showing on the windshiel frame and under the rockers. That was the biggest reason i picked up this one.
Nice sounds like a clean car.
I got mine from Connecticut for 2,000 grand It has a mint frame no rust, never hit. Stock rebuilt 350 that was ripped apart and the interior had lots of missing parts and it was beige yuk. So after a 2 years this is what it looks like.
Well, i have a housing now, I gave up on the aluminum Dana 36 idea. I did some searches, and it has been done, but I will pass on that one. The cast iron unit is made by Eaton, so its totally different than the Dana one.
Now I need to guts...carrier, bearings, yokes, ring an pinion, etc. Probably gooing to run a 3.36, or 3.55 rear gear combo.
