Default Central Va Shop Recomendation

I need to get a power steering leak repaired and am not up to laying in the driveway to do it. I also noticed a gas smell from the rear of the car. Can anyone recomend a reliable repair shop in the Richmond/Petersburg Virginia area ?

There is a place on Hull Street called the Vette Shop. He does body work only, but I believe he could recommend someone for the mechanical work.
Try asking the folks in the Richmond Corvette Club: http://www.corvetteclubofrichmond.com.
Also, Zip Products is on the other side of Richmond, call them and ask for referals.

Probably any good mechanic could do htis. Just finding one is a problem. I usually do these kinds of things myself, but know what it's like to crawl under the car on a cold or wet day.

I deal with Zip's alot, but I've found they aren't real good with technical help on stuff like this.

I'd use a small independent shop you can trust (I have a "home fleet" of daily drivers with the wife & kids that goes out to the shop) but they also get backed up with work. Depends on what kind of hurry you're in.

Call Scott Weis at Lakeside Auto 804 266 2553. They are on Lakeside Ave in Richmond. Two years ago he rebuilt my parents 63 swc engine and did a great job and really took care of the car.

Have used a place called Heaveners on Rt 10 between Ches Courthouse and Chester before on some work on my Mustang and an old Bronco. They are local guys and do good work and take care of your car. I have seen several vintage cars and trucks in there at various times.

From personal experience I recommend Buddy Harris. He owns Broad Street Auto Service, 2120 Lake Avenue, Richmond; phone 285-8707. Lake Ave is just down the steet from Willow Lawn Shopping Center. Buddy has been a Vette man for probably 40 years and he's honest. No bull.
