Default Float Chargers

Hi All,
I pulled the cover back yesterday, my battery was deader than.......well you know.
A quick charge and a 20 mile spin definitely got my blood pumpin !!

I purchased a 'float charger' from Harbor Freight, the keep the charge in my battery.
Looking for any items of interest I should know about using the float charger!
Thanks
Hank

I've got one on my C-5 (computer and anti-theft can really kill a battery in less tha a month) and a small farm tractor. Am going to get another one for my other tractor! The tractor ones are mounted permamently and the Vette one is not. I like the fact that they "go to sleep" when the battery is charged up and "wake up" only when a recharge is needed. This removes the chance of overcharging and cooking the water out of a battery, especially the maintenance free types. A trickle charger could overcharge if left on too long.

I bought one from Wal-Mart some time ago (98?). It works great. And I think I paid $16.00 for it. You just plug it in and forget about it. When it comes time to drive the car, unplug the car and turn it on. It's that easy.
