Default Fuel pump, mechanical or electric?

What are you guys opinions on this? Also I am replacing all the stock fuel lines should I go back with a bigger diameter, 3/8-1/2?

unless you're building a Pro Stock, 3/8" lines are fine. Electric pumps are noisy as heck, nothing wrong with a mechanical pump...the mechanical pump will collapse the tank if the wrong gas cap is used....aks me how I know.........therefore, the mechanical pump can deliver the fuel to more than meet the engine's needs.

Great thanks for the info. Are the stock lines 3/8's? They look smaller than that.

Yep, the L-88, the 435HP used 3/8" lines, and a mechanical fuel pump

Stock fuel lines is 3/8"..I was thinking of changing them my self to a bigger size, but if they can flow enough for the LS6/7 and L88s,then they are enough for me to.. :smash:

I am a fan of electric pumps mount under the tank. In both my cars I run 2 high pressure holley bumps, each feeding directly off it's own fitting at the bottom of the tank. I also run a 1/2 stainless fuel line up to the regulator when the 15 or 16 psi pressure is reduced to 6 psi.
I also have found rubber mounts sold by a local screw supplier that takes most of the noise away, not all but most. They bolt to the holley pumps and have a 1 inch vulcanized rubber flange.

Would you consider selling me a set?

I will post pictures tonight. I have them on my home computer.
It is 2 flanges seperated by 1 inch of rubber, like motor mounts designed to cut vibration in equipment.
See what you think of them.

Come, come, someone has to ask this. GDaina, how do you know that the mechanical pump will suck the tank in? (I just want to hear someone else aknowledge the kind of mistakes I make). :smash:

Not all electric pumps are noisey. Mallory pumps are pretty quiet.

That was really nice of you to share your misfortune. We all make these type of mistakes and tend to think we're the only ones.

Norval has dual lines each feeding a carb . . . Who woulda thunk it?
