Anyone know which parts to order for a loose T/T column? It's not horrible, but when it's "locked" in position, you can wiggle it up and down a little more than I feel it should. Common?
I have the same problem and when I took it apart, there were missing pieces, not to mention ball bearings all over.
I just bought a used column on ebay for under $100 and am hopeful that there will be the parts I need in it. From what I understand, it is difficult to find new internal parts for the column.
Good luck with yours, and if I'm able to repair mine, I'll post again with pics. If not, I'll be buying another column and replacing the whole unit.
My first paper that is posted at Terry Rudy's Corvette Faq websight has some simple tests that you can perform on your steering column to help identify your problems. Here is a link to the first paper: http://www.corvettefaq.com/redir.asp?site=611
This paper will get you started. There are a total of three T&T papers and three line drawing pics that address disassembly and repair.
Good luck,
