Default Help! Body mount removal

Could use some advice. I broke the body mount bolt when trying to remove the #1 mount to install my new front end. The problem is that I cant get the old one out (see bottom pic). http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/525739/2

As you can see I have the body jacked up as high as I can get it, but it won't come out without a torch or grinding wheel. My main concern is how can I put a replacement one in without cutting off the bracket that holds it? I don't have a welder to weld the bracket back on. I'm right in the middle of this project this afternoon so any help will be greatly appreciated.

#1 has a large bolt that goes thru it ,if you broke it on either end you should be able to grab it with a vice grips or something to pull out the other end. Maybe lower the body a bit to get a better angle on it.

From what I can see in the picture, you broke the top part of the bolt off ...
and it sounds like the bottom section is still holding the mount to the bracket.
Here's a few ideas ...

Get some penetrating oil in the center of the mount, where it is stuck to the b olt.
1. Try a big punch (or bolt) to drive the piece of bolt down through the mount.

2. Maybe you can get a strap wrench around the mount ... then turn the piece
of bolt from the bottom to loosen it from the mount.

3. A die grinder or Dremel tool to cut off the bottom end of the bolt.

4. Loosen the other body mount bolts to get the body higher.

That's all I can think of now. Let us know what worked for you. :seeya :smash:

Having just replacing my body mounts, The bolt is rusted inside the bushing so the best way to handle it is to cut the bottom off and then you can work at it on a bench.

I have both pieces of the bolt out. The steel sleeve that runs thru the middle of the rubber is what is holding it in. The washer on top of the rubber is part of the sleeve. I don't have enough room between the frame bracket and the fiberglass to wiggle the mount out. Sorry for the misleading picture.

You can't. The only way to be able to put in the new one is to lift the body at least 2 inches.

You are gong to have to take the body off and grab it with vice grips or what I used - a pipe wrench. Apply oil and some heat. Check the threads in the mount and see how much of them are left.
