Can you MIG weld copper?
Wife wants me to construct a trellis for the garden made from copper pipe. The instructions show pieces being soldered together. Not joints mind you but two pieces of round pipe simply making contact??? :confused:
I have a MIG welder and thought it'd be easier to use that method? Does a MIG welder get too hot for the 1/2 inch copper pipe?

You can use a small propane torch and some solder. You will not be able to braze it. Ask your wife if she would like it made out of steel, then you can get a MIG. :cheers:

Coppper doesn't take well to being welded. Screw or solder it together or braze it. Why does it habe to be coppper?

Silfloss, works real nice. I put a Copper stand together for my wife to.
I used Mapp gas to heat it and propane to conect it. :thumbs:
